Philmark Office is fully committed to promoting a clean and safe environment.  We continually examine and evaluate all sources of waste we create internally, to determine the best solution for minimization through recycling, re-engineering, or changes in our manufacturing processes. Whatever cannot be eliminated is recycled or disposed of safely in compliance with existing local and state requirements.  We constantly analyze products from our supply chain partners to insure that whatever we purchase has been evaluated for reduced environmental impact.

In striving for sustainability, We use cardboard shipping cartons which contain more than 70% post-consumer and/or post-industrial materials.  All of our cartons are constructed to pass at least a 275lb crush rating which protects our products, but also allows for reuse.  Seating models which use plastic inner backs instead of plywood, are constructed using recycled glass-filled nylon content, and 1 of our models is actually made using recycled plastic yogurt containers. Our carton support trays which protect casters and bases during shipment are made from 100% recycled styrofoam, and even our product information binder is constructed of 100% recycled corrugated cardboard.  The binder's spine and rings are made with recycled steel and are fastened with screws and t-nuts.  This allows us to simply replace the binder's cover in the event of wear and tear.  

Our website & email hosting is all provided by a server farm located in Texas which is 100% wind powered.  All of the electricity used to provide the website you are looking at now is offset by wind-generated Renewable Energy Certificates, which prevent the release of  2,660 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year.  That figure is staggering when you consider the estimated yearly benefit to the environment is equivalent to any of the following:

•    planting approximately 2,390 acres of trees
•    not driving your car an estimated 6.1 million miles
•    removing 510 cars permanently from the road

Through the use of products such as water-based adhesives and wood finishing, CARB compliant formaldehyde free plywood components in both our lounge frames and ergonomic seating, soy-based foam in all of our seats and backs, and over 350 choices of 100% recycled upholstery materials, We are proudly committed to helping protect and preserve the environment while reducing our carbon footprint.
